When 10-year-old Mitchell from Geebung State School in Brisbane stood up to give his school captain speech, he probably didn’t expect it to turn into national news.
In the middle of his speech, Mitchell made a bold (and very popular) campaign promise: if elected School Captain, he would replace all the school bubblers with chocolate milk. The crowd erupted. Safe to say, it was a winning policy.
And then… he won.
Not one to shy away from backing himself in, Mitchell decided he needed to honour his promise. So, he did what any future leader would do, he wrote to us!
“Hi Norco Milk,
My name is Mitchell and I am 10 years old and I go to Geebung State School in Brisbane.
Today I got picked to be School Captain for 2026!
Funny story…when I did my speech, I joked that if I became School Captain my first job would be changing all the school bubblers into chocolate milk. Everyone cheered.
Now that I actually got chosen, I would really like to keep my promise… I would love to give every kid a chocolate milk to celebrate. I think it would make everyone really happy and it would be the best surprise ever.
My mum has always told me that Norco is the best…”
We were sold.
There’s something pretty special about a young leader who makes a promise and genuinely wants to deliver on it. And when that promise involves sharing the best chocolate milk with 375 classmates? Well, that’s a cause we can get behind.
Backing a Future Leader
As Australia’s only 100% farmer-owned dairy co-operative, community is at the heart of everything we do. Our farmers live and work in the same communities we serve. Supporting local legends, especially the next generation, isn’t just good PR. It’s who we are.
Norco CEO Michael Hampson summed it up perfectly:
“This man has got some leadership and has really backed himself in and we want to make this happen for Geebung State School.”
So we did.
For Mitchell’s badge ceremony, we delivered 375 bottles of Norco Mighty Cool Chocolate Milk — our smooth, creamy, crowd-favourite choccy milk made from quality Australian dairy.
Let’s just say… it went down a treat.
