As a fully commercial dairy supplying around 2.7 million litres of milk a year directly to Norco, the farm operates just like any modern industry farm. But it’s also a living, breathing classroom where students learn what farming truly looks like.

Learning by Doing
On the Tocal Agriculture College campus, students receive a blend of education and hands‑on experience. They spend time in the classroom, but the farm is where concepts become real. Whether it’s caring for a dystocia cow, practising animal handling, or simply learning the basics of cattle care for the first time, students see firsthand what happens on a dairy, not in theory, but in action.

While some arrive from family farms, there are a growing number of students who arrive with no agricultural background at all, making the opportunity to “get their hands dirty” an invaluable part of their training.
